Some extremely good
news for mice will hopefully become a transformative new technique for curing
humans of prostate cancer. British researchers have developed a therapy that
hides a cancer-killing virus inside the immune system, which then "sneaks"
it into tumors. One doctor said the chief challenge with successfully deploying
cancer-fighting viruses is penetrating the cancer cells' line of defense, a
problem this strategy solves — which is why it's nicknamed a Trojan Horse
therapy. In this study, all of the mice with cancer were clear of the disease
and alive at the study's end, and now researchers are hoping it will have
similar success with humans. [Source]
